(Marquette, MI) -  Cold rain, and chilly
temperatures didn't dampen the spirits of all the
New Year's Eve revelers this year, and party goers
and celebrants were out in full force.  MediRide,
Inc. EMS continued it's tradition of providing it's
Free Rides for Life Program again this year and
company officials are pleased with it's results.
"We're still compiling all of the numbers, but the
volume of calls for the free rides this year was far
above what it's been in the past," said Jason
Harrington, MediRide EMS spokesman.  Each
year MediRide EMS has provided the free service,
the ride volume has grown.  "For New Year's Eve
2006, we anticipated an up-tick in calls as we've
seen increases every year, so we added
an additional driver.  We never anticipated that we'd receive as many calls as we did," explained
Harrington.  According to MediRide officials, the EMS agency averaged about sixty calls for rides an
hour during the eight hours it provided the free rides.  That's nearly double the calls received last year.
MediRide EMS vice president and volunteer driver, Michelle DeLisle, was pleased with how so many in
the community were so supportive of this service.  "The community has really rallied behind this
program and we're happy that our Free Rides for Life has become a part of so many people's annual
holiday tradition," she said.

In fact, this year's program was such a success, MediRide EMS plans to add two additional cars and a
dedicated dispatcher to next New Year's Eve program.  DeLisle explained, "it's just become too big for
two of us to handle now and that's exciting.  Unfortunately, we were so busy, many of those who called
in either got a busy signal or were unable to get through and we've already gotten a plan together to
alleviate some of that for next New Year's eve."

MediRide, Inc. EMS administrative officials would like to extend a special thanks to TV6 News, UGN
News, WMQT radio, and the volunteers who helped make the annual event possible.  "We're really
thankful to the news media for coming out and helping us to get the word out to folks.  We couldn't
have made the night such a success without them, and our volunteer drivers who gave up their holiday
plans to help others celebrate safely,"  said Harrington.

MediRide EMS plans to offer its Free Rides for Life Program again next New Year's Eve.
