Free Rides for Life - New Year's Eve

(Marquette, MI) - New Year's Eve is known as an evening
that should be filled with smiles, laughter, and joy as we
celebrate the coming of a brand-new year. Unfortunately for
many in Michigan, the evening will end in tragedy. Last year
in Michigan there were over 4,000 drunk-driving related
arrests and accidents, some of them fatal.
That's why, for the 7th strait year, MediRide EMS of
Marquette is offering the Free Rides For Life program.
Free Rides For Life, an annual service of MediRide EMS is
an opportunity for the general public to take advantage of
free rides to and from their New Year's Eve Celebrations.
Free rides will be given by MediRide EMS employee
volunteers in the company's AssistCAR sedans. The Free
Rides For Life are offered New Year's Eve only from 8:00
pm through 4:00 am and are available on a
first-call-first-serve basis only. Due to heavy call volumes
advanced reservations will not be accepted. MediRide EMS
President, David Guizzetti, says that it's an extremely
popular service and hundreds of people call every year.
"People have always expressed a great appreciation for
this service, and now that we've been doing it for the past
few years, folks have started to count on us." MediRide
officials suggest that people call for their ride about 15 to
20 minutes before they're ready to leave. "Because of this,
