(Marquette, MI) - It was a weekend full of fun for nearly 1,600
area middle and high school aged kids at the Berry Center on
the campus of Northern Michigan University April 4th 5th and
6th at the 21st annual Fire Up Christian Youth Conference, and
MediRide, Inc. EMS was proud to be a part of it for the first time.
"It was an amazing weekend," said MediRide, Inc. EMS
President & Fire Up Volunteer Dave Guizzetti. "There were so
many kids here and the Berry Center was rockin' with all the
great bands and speakers."
Fire Up, an annual Christian Youth Conference, made possible
by the Youth For Christ Organization in Marquette features a
weekend full of classes, workshops, games, fellowship and two full nights of concerts by Christian artists from
around the United States.
This was the first year that MediRide, Inc. EMS has provided stand-by coverage, free of charge for the event. "We
believe that this conference is so important for youth and that the positive message the Fire Up people are teaching
plays such an important role in helping kids that we really wanted to get involved," said Guizzetti. "With nearly 1,600
kids, plus the addition of hundreds of volunteers, youth leaders and parents in attendance, the opportunity for
something to go wrong always exists. The Fire Up Safety Team was so well organized and was ready to handle
emergencies, but we just felt that having on-site EMS coverage would help to speed up any need for emergency
assistance, and luckily, we were only called upon to help in one minor accident."
The event was a success and after speaking with Fire Up organizers, MediRide, Inc. EMS will be back again for next
year's conference.
