NOMINATION # 3 - (Marquette, MI) - 11/26/09
"I recently met this family due to their family tragedy. A month ago they lost their infant son to SIDS. As this in itself would be devastating for
any family, I also found out that the father has been laid off from his job for several months. They have two other boys at home. A first grader
and a kindergardner. How wonderful it would be to have some support for this truly deserving family at Christmas time. They had just
relocated to Marquette after serving in the military and have very little family support here."

"I would like to nominate the "S" family. Mr. "S" has been out of work for about 2 years since the company he worked for closed. He has tried
to find work like many other people in this town but no luck. They have been torn on paying the mortgage or the bills, well they chose the
mortgage because they need to provide a home for their son. There bills are probably months and months behind. Mrs. "S"t works at a local
fast food business but the money she makes is very little. Mrs. "S" had told me she had to tell their son that their is no Santa Claus and that
would like this family to get their Christmas wish just to have a Christmas."

NOMINATION # 6 - (KI Sawyer, MI) - 11/27/09
"I've known this family off and on for years, as they lived with mother, with father, and now with grandmother. There's been a lot of upheaval
and uncertainty in recent times for the three children, and all three are amazing children who do well with dealing with the troubles life has
given them. Recently their grandmother lost her job and while she looks for another, at this time of year I fear they may not have as bright a
holiday season and Christmas Day. The oldest child, a teenage girl, is a friendly and active person I've always been pleased to know. The
next oldest is active in sports and has always been willing to help out when people ask for it. The youngest girl is in elementary school and
is already an active participant in various community service activities and youth group. The youngest is a boy who's sweet and funny, and
charms everyone around him. All four children and their grandmother are bright, friendly people and I've personally witnessed the stress in
their day, the dark circles around their eyes, and the smiles they still can bring up. I would love to know they had another reason to smile this
year, and one less worry on their plates."

"My sister and husband are wonderful parents who volunteers for a local EMS company and fire department. They are very kind and giving
people who help those in need all year round, even if it is checking in on a neighbor to be sure they are doing well or baking cookies for the
elderly in their town. They have four children (Oh how I love them ) who are also involved in many community projects. They too have been
struggling as many others during this holiday season. I would so much like to see my sister and her family have a special Christmas to
remember. Last year we lost our father just before Christmas. I know in my heart how this loss brought us such sadness last year. I would
like to see that this Christmas is a Christmas of Joy and Remembering. Thank you for your kindness in this gift and the hard work you are
doing to reach out and help some very special families. Happy Holidays!!"

NOMINATION # 10 - (Marquette) - 11/29/09
"I realize this may a contest for people with small children, but I'm writing this on behalf of my daughter. She lost her job in June and she
hasn't received any pay from unemployment so she hasn't had any money since then. She needs medical care desperately because she
has a tumor on her kidney and was denied medi-caid. She has had a part of her kidney removed already but the tumor came back to what's
left of her kidney. Now she is losing her home to the bank, she's gotten an eviction notice and has 7 days to move all her belongings and she
has no where to go. She needs to come up with all the deposit money and the first and last months rent for an apartment, and we are
depleted of our money so we can't help her. Her son just got back from Iraq after serving 2 tours of duty as a marine and she would like to
give him a very special Christmas but she can't due to everything she has going on, she always thinks of everyone else besides herself. I
would love to see something good happen to her because she's been going through so much and has held up so far. Could you please take
her into consideration as you read this? Thank you"

NOMINATION # 12 - (Marquette) - 11/30/09
I would like to nominate my sister-in-law and her 3 kids for a "Christmas to remember". She is a single mom with 3 kids, ages 8, 12, and 14.
She has been attending college to further her education with hopes to provide a better/stable financial future for her family. Currently she is
unemployed while attending school and financially is doing very poorly this year. I know she is struggling just to get basic bills paid and I
worry that Christmas will be a very dim holiday for them this year. I know she would appreciate any help with Christmas and trying to keep the
spirit alive for her kids. Thank you so much.
